Black Dog Institute: Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention
This multidisciplinary program provides advanced, evidence-based training for health professionals working with people at risk of suicide. Grounded in science, compassion and action, the program is designed to strengthen skills and confidence in suicide risk assessment, collaborative safety planning and ongoing management across the full spectrum of suicide risk.
The training combines self-directed online learning with interactive Zoom workshops and facilitated case discussion. Participants are supported with practical tools to respond to acute suicidal crises, provide care following a suicide attempt, and support individuals, families and carers impacted by suicide and suicide bereavement.
Who should attend
This program is suitable for a multidisciplinary audience including GPs and GP registrars, allied health professionals, psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals.

This multidisciplinary, evidence-based program focuses on supporting adolescents experiencing distress, self-harm and suicidality. Designed for clinicians working with young people, it builds on existing skills and confidence in suicide risk assessment, safety planning and post-attempt care.
The program is delivered through a blended learning format combining self-paced eLearning with interactive online workshops. Participants complete four modules covering the suicidal crisis, assessing and managing risk, self-harm, after a suicide attempt, and clinician self-care. A strong emphasis is placed on collaborative, team-based approaches to care.

I-ASIST FREE Suicide Prevention Skills Training for First Nations (Griffith)
Indigenous Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training I-ASIST provides a culturally relevant framework for participants to learn how to use a unique 6 task model to provide a suicide first aid intervention, work with someone to develop a personalised safety plan to keep safe for now and connect with further help. This course has been developed by Indigenous people with Indigenous facilitators, to provide culturally appropriate suicide prevention training.
I-ASIST is for Indigenous workforces, people who work with Indigenous communities, as well as schools, community groups, and sports clubs. Virtually anyone age 16 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, can become an I-ASIST trained helper
During the two-day interactive workshop, participants learn through powerful audio-visual learning aids, group yarns, skills practice and development through trainer-facilitated workgroups. Participants in I-ASIST:
Learn the skills to provide a suicide first-aid intervention
Work to develop a personalised safety plan for someone with thoughts of suicide to keep “safe-for-now”
Connect the person with thoughts of suicide to further help
Acquire skills in an evidence-based intervention model, with the assistance of two LivingWorks registered I-ASIST trainers

Enhancing Paediatrics in Primary Care (EPiPC) Education Day (Wagga)
We are excited to invite GPs, GP registrars, nurses, general practice staff, primary health care providers and allied health providers to the 2026 Enhancing Paediatrics in Primary Care (EPiPC) Program Education Day.
This free, full-day education event will have an ADHD focus, in response to recent changes to prescribing arrangements and the growing need for confident, collaborative ADHD assessment and management in primary care.
Designed primarily for primary care clinicians working with children and families, the day will provide practical, evidence-informed insights to support early identification, shared care and multidisciplinary management of ADHD and related presentations.

Regional Rainbow Forum (Wagga)
Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is excited to take part in the NSW Regional Rainbow Forum, Connection in Action, hosted by ACON. The forum brings together community leaders, health organisations, local government and lived experience voices to help strengthen conversations about inclusive, safe and responsive healthcare for LGBTQ+ people living in regional communities.
As part of the program, MPHN will deliver a presentation on the LGBTQ+ Health Needs Assessment, providing an overview of key findings and local insights to help inform more inclusive service planning and delivery across the Murrumbidgee.
MPHN will also present on the introduction and role of the MPHN Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace culture and supporting equitable health outcomes.
The forum program includes a range of speakers and sessions focused on lived experience, regional wellbeing, workplace strategies, local pride initiatives and opportunities to turn priorities into action.
MPHN is pleased to contribute to this important event and to be part of a broader regional conversation about improving the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities.

We’ve partnered with Mental Health Coordinating Council to deliver four free training sessions focused on the critical connection between physical and mental health.
Connecting Physical and Mental Health equips mental health and community service workers with practical strategies to support the physical wellbeing of the people they work alongside.
This one-day course explores key physical health risks experienced by people living with persistent mental health conditions and provides realistic, respectful ways to talk about health without judgement, shame or assumptions.

Connecting physical and mental health (Wagga Wagga)
Free training for community and mental health workers
We’ve partnered with Mental Health Coordinating Council to deliver four free training sessions focused on the critical connection between physical and mental health.
Connecting Physical and Mental Health equips mental health and community service workers with practical strategies to support the physical wellbeing of the people they work alongside.
This one-day course explores key physical health risks experienced by people living with persistent mental health conditions and provides realistic, respectful ways to talk about health without judgement, shame or assumptions.

What you will learn
This training will support community service workers to:
recognise common physical health issues faced by people they support
understand the systemic and personal barriers experienced by people with persistent mental health conditions
reflect on personal assumptions and biases that may impact care

create relationships and environments that enable respectful, practical conversations about physical and mental health.

Online: Practice Network Meeting
MPHN’s Practice Network Meeting is a monthly, one‑hour lunchtime catch‑up — your knowledge break. Open to everyone working in general practice, these sessions welcome GPs, practice managers, nurses, administrative staff, GP registrars, and medical students.
The meetings provide a relaxed, collaborative space to share updates, learn together, and stay connected. Each session covers a mix of administrative, operational, and clinical topics, with plenty of time for discussion, questions, and sharing ideas from across the Murrumbidgee network.
It’s a great opportunity to stay up to date with primary health care news, explore current hot topics, and connect with colleagues and peers throughout the Murrumbidgee region.

Sustaining Fulfilment in General Practice - Choices, Change and Contentment
General Practice offers a uniquely varied and rewarding career, but career satisfaction does not often happen by accident. Instead it evolves over time and requires active involvement, reflection, choice and flexibility.
This session will explore how GPs and GP registrars can sustain fulfilment and contentment throughout their careers. We will look at the common factors that influence career satisfaction, the wide range of career options available within and alongside General Practice, and how careers can be shaped to reflect individual values, strengths and preferences.

Recognise common drivers of career dissatisfaction in General Practice
Understand the breadth of career options within and alongside General Practice
Reflect on their own values, strengths and interests
Identify early signs of career dissatisfaction and burnout
Apply a simple framework for career decision-making

This free, practical session will help individuals and organisations strengthen their confidence when responding to suicide incidents and develop communication that minimises harm and promotes hope.
