Overview

This session will provide an opportunity to explore career pathways and consider future options in general practice.

General Practice offers a uniquely varied and rewarding career, but career satisfaction does not often happen by accident.  Instead it evolves over time and requires active involvement, reflection, choice and flexibility.

This session will explore how GPs and GP registrars can sustain fulfilment and contentment throughout their careers. We will look at the common factors that influence career satisfaction, the wide range of career options available within and alongside General Practice, and how careers can be shaped to reflect individual values, strengths and preferences.

Participants will be encouraged to reflect on what helps them thrive at work, recognise early signs of dissatisfaction or burnout, and develop confidence in navigating career change or adaptation when needed. The session will also introduce practical frameworks and resources to support career decision-making, helping GPs feel more in control of their career direction and better equipped for a long, satisfying career in General
