Riverina Ramblers – Mongrels Men

Building on the success of the July 2025 Walk N Talk with a Farmer event, where two farmers walked 235 kilometres to raise awareness for rural mental health, the Riverina Ramblers project will deliver a region-wide initiative to strengthen mental health literacy and community resilience.

The program will operate across eight towns in the Riverina region and is expected to engage around 1,000 participants. Activities are designed to encourage connection, reduce stigma and create regular opportunities for open, honest conversations about mental health.

The initiative includes 48 community Walk & Talk events, providing consistent, low-pressure opportunities for people to connect while being active together. Four regional community meet ups will bring together northern and southern communities, strengthening relationships across the region.

In addition, four accredited Mental Health Response workshops will equip participants with practical skills to recognise signs of mental health concerns, provide support and respond appropriately when someone needs help.

Delivered in partnership with Mongrels Men, the program combines grassroots community engagement with professional education to encourage help-seeking and build strong, supportive networks across rural communities.
