Community Managed Organisations encouraged to apply for grant to support vaccination pop-up clinics

Community Managed Organisations (CMO’s) in the Murrumbidgee region are encouraged to apply for funding to hold events in communities across the Murrumbidgee in which a vaccination pop-up clinic could be held.

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is providing CMO’s with an opportunity to apply for funding of a flat rate of $1,500 (GST exclusive). This funding will provide the opportunity for organisations such as sporting clubs and cultural groups to hold activities that may include hiring a jumping castle, face painting, balloons, or provision of an education session encouraging vaccinations and addressing vaccine hesitancy.

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network Senior Manager Primary Care Engagement Andrew Heap said community organisations should take advantage of the funding to host an event supported by a vaccination pop-up clinic.

“We recognise that there are some communities and individuals in the Murrumbidgee who may experience challenges in keeping up to date with their vaccinations”, Mr Heap said.

“This opportunity provides community organisations with a chance to host events that bring the vaccine pop-up clinics to them.  The events are not only fun for the community but offer additional protection against influenza and COVID-19 for eligible individuals.

Lockhart GP Dr Rod Bond said that vaccinations are the best line of defence against influenza and COVID-19 this winter.

“It is important that communities look after their health and have access to influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations in a supported setting that is close to home”, Dr Bond said.

“I see this as an exciting and essential initiative that ensures the continual roll out of vaccinations for the wellbeing of our communities.”

Funding will be available until 31 December 2022 or until the funding available has been expended.
