New toolkits for primary care clinicians

The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support (AusCAPPS) Network is a national online community of practice designed to help GPs, practice nurses and community pharmacists to provide early medical abortion (EMA) and long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) services. The AusCAPPS Network are funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care as part of the NHMRC research partnership grant.

The network recently developed two new toolkits for GPs, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives, pharmacists, and practice and pharmacy support staff to use when discussing EMA care with patients.

1. Communicating with patients about medical abortion in primary care - includes tips on language to use, content to discuss and resources to recommend to patients for additional information or support.

2. MS-2 Step: Frequently Asked Questions - to support clinicians when answering patients' questions about EMA.
