Free program for separating and divorcing parents now available across Australia

In an Australian first, parents and carers who are going through separation or divorce now have access to a free, self-directed online course, which is university-developed and based on extensive research.

Family Transitions Triple P Online, developed by the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program, is an easy-to-use online resource that gives proven tips and strategies for managing the transition in a way that can boost parenting confidence and minimise the impact on children.

Family Transitions Triple P has been evaluated and shown to effectively reduce child behaviour concerns, reduce stress, depression, anxiety, and anger in parents, and reduce co-parenting animosity.

Parents and carers can sign up to Family Transitions Triple P Online at: triplep-parenting.net.au

Family Transitions Triple P Online is free in Australia, thanks to funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care under the Parenting Education and Support Program. The funding supports free online courses from the Triple P's Positive - Parenting Program for all parents and carers in Australia who have children under 12 years.

About Family Transitions Triple P Online:

  • Family Transitions Triple P Online is an evidence-based program that is now online and free for parents and carers who are going through separation or divorce. The program consists of five interactive online modules, each taking about one hour or less to complete, that can be accessed on any device.

  • Family Transitions Triple P was originally developed as face-to-face program in 2007 to support the particular needs of parents and carers going through divorce. Parents and carers reported that they wanted a resource that supported them irrespective of their relationship with their former partner and whether they had access to their children or not.

  • Family Transitions Triple P was co-authored by the founder of the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program, Professor Matt Sanders and Dr Helen Stallman, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Care Collaborate Connect.

  • The Family Transitions Triple P program has been evaluated and shown to effectively reduce child behaviour concerns and coercive parenting practices. It’s also been shown to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety, anger in parents, and reduce co-parenting animosity.
