My Health Record + Privacy Awareness Week

Privacy Awareness Week (6-12 May) is an annual event designed to raise awareness of privacy issues and the importance of protecting personal information.

Healthcare providers routinely handle sensitive health information about their patients and need to embed good privacy in their practice. When it comes to My Health Record, there are people, processes, technologies and legislation keeping information safe and secure.

Healthcare providers need to understand their obligations when accessing and sharing information to My Health Record. Healthcare providers can also help to inform patients that they are in control of their records. Patients can manage their important information, control access permissions, and monitor access history.
