Pfizer vaccine available at four Murrumbidgee vaccination hubs

From Monday 5 July 2021, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available at four Murrumbidgee vaccination hubs, in Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Young and Deniliquin.

The Pfizer vaccine will also be available in selected participating local general practices later in July.

The Pfizer vaccine is currently being offered to people aged 40-59, and anybody under the age of 40 who also meets additional eligibility criteria.

Standing in as Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) Acting CEO, Narelle Mills commended the massive effort undertaken by the general practice respiratory clinics in getting residents both tested and vaccinated safely.

“We extend a huge thank you to our local general practice respiratory clinics, who have been working tirelessly for months to meet the increased demand for both testing and vaccinating our residents,” Ms Mills said.

“The general practice respiratory clinics have played a critical role in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, and continue to do so as more groups become eligible for the vaccine.”

The Pfizer vaccine will be offered to eligible residents alongside the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is also being administered at local vaccination hubs and participating general practices.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is available for people who are aged 60 and above.

MPHN’s COVID-19 Pandemic Lead, Dr Alison Koschel is encouraging anyone who is eligible to consider booking in for their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible.

“Now that the Pfizer vaccine will be more widely available for our eligible community members, I encourage anybody who has been holding off to book in for their vaccine,” Dr Koschel said.

“You can book an appointment either online or by phoning your chosen participating practice or vaccination hub.

If you are unsure of which vaccine you are eligible for, please check your eligibility online using the Commonwealths’ online eligibility checker.”
