Valued MPHN staff member celebrates ten year milestone
One of MPHN’s valued team members, Finance Manager Bettina Goolagong, has celebrated 10 years of service.
Bettina started with MPHN (previously known as Murrumbidgee Medicare Local) on 12 March 2012 in the role of Finance Officer and has subsequently spent time as an Aboriginal Outreach Worker, eHealth Support Officer, Indigenous Health Project Officer, Quit Smoking Project Officer and Cervical Screening Officer.
MPHN Senior Manager Finance and Corporate Services Jessica Ashwood congratulated Bettina on her milestone and praised her dedication to her work and the community.
“Bettina is an exceptionally hard working and loyal member of our team who always goes above and beyond. She is a great asset to MPHN and is part of the glue that ensures our business runs smoothly,” Ms Ashwood said
”I would like to congratulate her on this fantastic milestone, and I look forward to seeing how she grows even further in the future.”
Bettina said she is grateful for the opportunities presented to her during her employment with MPHN, and believes this has played a role in why she’s had 10 years of services to MPHN.
“My first role was a maternity leave finance position and when the maternity relief was complete, I was fortunate to be able to continue working here – at one stage working three roles at once in other programs, before coming back into the Finance team. Being able to have the broad scope of roles and experience is a major reason as to why I was able to stay at MPHN for 10 years and on reflection, I was very lucky for this opportunity, and I really appreciate it,” Bettina said.
On reflecting on her last ten years, Bettina has a lesson to share.
“Life is so unpredictable, and we are all faced with so many challenges, especially with COVID. From what I see in and around the office, MPHN embraces the challenges and just runs with it. The one lesson I am still learning is to ‘focus on building the new and not fighting the old,” she said.
Bettina joins MPHN employees Julie Redway (21 years), Toni Preuss (16 years), Narelle Mills (14 years), Kristy Hawkins (12 years), Andrew Heap (12 Years) and Daniel Hayes (11 years) who have also attained 10 years of service with MPHN in its various iterations.
