GPs gather for the Doctors Table at Finley

Local GPs and MPHN staff gathered at the Finley Country Club for our latest Doctors Table event on Thursday 12 September 2024. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening, with everyone having the chance to share a great meal and connect with fellow healthcare professionals.

From left, back row: MPHN Senior Manager Primary Care Engagement Ali Jansen, Dr Priyantha Fernando (Finley), Dr Giri Yaramati (Urana), Dr Tess Plattfuss (Deniliquin), Catherine Ryan (Director and Finley-based Practice Manager), Dr Chandana Mutukumara (Berrigan), Dr Antoinette Del Popolo (Corowa and Howlong), MPHN Executive Integration and Partnerships Narelle Mills, MPHN CEO Stewart Gordon, Dr Alam Yoosuff (Director and Finley GP). Front row from left, Dr Kanchana Marasinghe (Finley) with firsthealth Board Chair Dr Jodi Culbert. Also present on the evening were Dr Sydney Paul, Dr Albert Liebenberg, and Dr Sushil Sah from Deniliquin.

The evening offered a fantastic opportunity to talk about some important topics, including the challenges around workforce and recruitment, health reforms in particular the General Practice Aged Care Incentive (GPACI), integration with MLHD, and ways to improve communication with MPHN. There were also extended discussions about potential opportunities presented through MyMedicare as part of the primary care reform agenda. These conversations were insightful and will help us continue working together to deliver the best possible care in our community.

Alongside the professional chats, there was plenty of light-hearted conversation, allowing everyone to get to know each other better. A big thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening both informative and enjoyable. We hope you found it as engaging as we did.

The next Doctors Table event will take place on Thursday 24 October 2024, at the Albion Country Club in Cootamundra, for GPs in the Riverina region. Invitations for the October event were issued yesterday.

The Doctors Table is an initiative designed to provide GPs with a relaxed setting to unwind after work, connect with colleagues, and discuss regional issues and opportunities. These dinners allow MPHN to share details about available opportunities for GPs and gather insights on how we can better support you and enhance the health and wellbeing of our local communities.
