Cultural Awareness Training – General Practice Program
When: Wednesday 20 March 2024, 6pm-7:30pm

GPs, practice managers, practice nurses and practice staff working within the Murrumbidgee region are invited to attend this free training to enhance skills in working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
Learning outcomes:
1. Assess health issues of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Murrumbidgee region.
2. Describe journey of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander patient attending a general practice and how attitudes and values can influence perceptions, assumptions, and behaviours in a clinical setting.
3. Identify the five steps towards excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and the importance of the 715 Check
4. Identify key issues facing general practice in the provision of culturally safe health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and generate ways of solving these issues.
