Recognising and Responding to Clinical Deterioration
Early recognition of clinical deterioration, with prompt and effective action including escalation can decrease the total number of interventions required to stabilise the patient and minimise adverse outcomes including cardiac arrest.
This program takes a case based approach to address the key criteria of Standard 8 - Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration from the 2nd edition of the National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards.
Focusing on an ABCDE approach to physical assessment, patient case studies will be used to apply clinical physiology, to understand the causes of deterioration to facilitate early recognition and response. The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to care for the deteriorating patient including the importance of communication and escalation.
